Gaston Uzcategui

Vice President Latin America

Mr. Uzcategui, is an active electrical engineer and a businessman for 40 plus years. His electrical engineer experience involves developing power distribution and transmission projects along with the participation in the construction and startup of the Venezuelan Western Transmission System (power transmission lines and electrical substations). He played a pivotal role deeply in the construction, startup and operation of Planta Centro Thermoelectric Power Plant in Venezuela. This is a 2000 MW power plant, which at that time was the biggest one in South America.

Mr. Uzcategui has occupied several top management positions with years of experience in engineer, agroindustry, international commerce, industrial projects facilitation, investment lobby and power electrical systems.  In the Venezuelan Electrical Sector occupied technical and management positions, in several companies, including C.A.D.A.F.E., where his last position was the CEO for more than 5 years with 14,000 employees and an annual investment budget of $2.5 trillion.

Mr. Uzcategui’s other activities include: 

  • Owner and president of Agropecuaria CARFRAN C.A., a company of high quality beef and milk ranch in Barinas State, Venezuela.  The facility also offers state of the art veterinarian services and a lab.

  • Owner of several companies specializing on international commerce and mediation. 

  • Member of Firmasa Group, which is part of a big network of commodity traders and international commerce from around the globe, especially from USA, Canada and Brazil.  Firmasa Group, has been one of the major associates in South and Central America, giving top managerial advice, development of engineering projects, and softwares (data base and business applications) for medium and large companies.

Mr. Uzcategui holds post graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, Operations Research and Public Administration from University of Pittsburg.
